Could I get a pretzel over here?

by Angie Pangie on February 1, 2008

For Christmas this past year I made the usual cookie haul, but I also made a pretzel sampler that included four types of flavored pretzels; chocolate covered, garlic pretzels, ranch pretzels, and spicy preztels.  These little goodie bags went over exceedingly well, and I cannot stress how easy it was to put them together.  In one short evening, I made enough to give some to all of our friends, all of the girls teachers and therapists, and enough to have a few snackies for ourselves.

Now that Christmas is over (for a few short months), by far, I get the most requests for more of the spicy pretzels.  I’m going to suggest that you put out small bowls of these all around during the game on Sunday.  Everyone will be happy munching – because it is difficult to stop!

Enjoy the time with your friends on Sunday, oh and make sure you have plenty to drink on hand – these pretzels like to stay with you a little while!

Spicy Pretzels

1 1/4 lb small pretzels (I used the tiny twists, but any will work)
3/4 cup canola or vegetable oil
1 package hidden valley ranch dressing mix
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1  teaspoon cayenne pepper

Put pretzels in a large bowl.
In a small bowl, mix together oil, ranch dressing, garlic salt and cayenne pepper.
Pour over pretzels and mix thoroughly.
Place in a roasting pan, or on a large cookie sheet.  Use parchement paper for easier clean up.
Bake at 250* for 25 minutes, stirring every 5-6 minutes.
