Meme? Who me?!?

by Angie Pangie on February 5, 2008

I got tagged for my very first meme and I’m purdy darn excited.  Now, I know for those of you who have been around for a while, this is no big deal.  I even get the distinct impression that too many memes get a bit annoying.  BUT.  Today, I’m excited, so I’m going to get right to it.

Amy at Earnest Parenting tagged me for:

7 Interesting Things About Me

Hmm, this is going to be tough, isn’t it?  Naw, I love talking about me.  I could use all 7 points just to talk about the different health issues I have, but I won’t bore you that way.  I’ll bore you another way!!  Haha!

1.  I’m an only child and I married an only child.  I have seemingly deprived my children of Aunts and Uncles.

2.  I had a stroke when I was 29 years old.  I still can’t shuffle cards well, or pick up little things with my left hand.  It was caused by a blood clot from my birth control pills.

3.  I’m a germaphobe.  If you touch my straw or my food you get to keep it.  Bonus for you!

4.  I like to eat Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom soup.  Not as something you add to casseroles either, but just like the directions on the back of the can says:  “Add 1 can of water.  Heat.  Mix.”  ‘Cept, I prefer 1 can of milk.  Yum.

5.  Rachel Ray and Emeril bug me.  A lot.  Yeah, and Tom Cruise, he bugs me, too.  (Just thought I’d throw that in there about the couch jumper.)

6.  I was diagnosed as Bipolar when I was about 14 years old.  I’ve been stable and medication free for 8 years now.  I have ran support groups (IRL and Online) for adults with bipolar disorder and parents of bipolar children.  I educate myself and others about mental illness whenever I can.  I believe that the stigmas that surround mental illness will only improve if we continue to speak out about the “normal-ness” of being mentally ill.  I also am thrilled with the current trend of acceptance of depression and post-partum depression, but am anxious for acceptance to spread to schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and Anxiety Disorders.

7.  I have a freckle behind my ear.  I can’t see it, but when I was delivering Babs (via c-section) my hubby told me about it.  It completely helped me stop panicking at the time.  I still try to twist around in the mirror to catch a glimpse sometimes.

Whoops!  I almost forgot.  I tag Hubby , Sophia , and The Other Angie

Shoot girl! You’re fast!! Love the list. That’s too funny about the freckle. I do have to say ewww to the soup though. Sadly, I don’t usually like soup. Wierd, eh? Shoulda put that on my list. I’ll have to keep that in mind for my next meme. :)

I never knew it was weird to like the soup until I mentioned eating it one day to a friend who replied “You mean, like in a bowl? EW!” *sigh* I was completely happy without the knowledge that it was strange.

Hi Angie,
Just checking out the blog after hearing about it this evening. I can’t stand Tom Cruise either, especially after his comment about post-partum depression being a bunch of hooey. Shame on him. I admire you for being open about mental illness. I joke about being a head case, but if it weren’t for that one little capsule I take daily, my life (and those of my family) would be an utter hell. Far too many people live in denial of what medication can do, and/or counseling. Congratulations on being medication free!

I agree with the comment here. Bipolar shouldnt be a stigmatised illness.
